Katy's very varied and extensive career of 55 years started with John Braine’s groundbreaking series 'Man at the Top'. This was followed by her life changing role of Jo Grant alongside the wonderful Jon Pertwee in Doctor Who. For three years she helped bond the "UNIT" family along with Nicholas Courtney, John Levene, Richard Franklin and Roger Delgado. Meeting Autons, Sea Devils, Axons, Drashigs, Ogrons and Daleks she has always been a favourite companion.Forty years later she was returning as Jo Jones in The Sarah Jane Adventures with Elisabeth Sladen & Matt Smith in 'The Death Of The Doctor' written by Russel T Davis. Jo Jones recently returned for a little moment in Jodie Whitaker’s last episode 'The Power of the Doctor'.
Her theatre career began in London's West End and has spanned three continents in multiples plays. Starring in London's West End for five years plus seasons at The Young Vic, Chichester & Edinburgh festivals, to several plays at the Sydney Opera House and tours across Australia, New York and Los Angeles.
Katy was the voice of UK TV and hosted an interview show with guests such as Sir Lenny Henry, Simon Pegg and Petula Clark. She has won several awards for both theatre, film and animated features. “Bakers End” with Tom Baker won the New York Radio Drama award.
Katy has worked with most of the Doctors as Jo Grant, Jo Jones and Iris Wildethyme for Big Finish. She also made appearances in Big Finish productions Dorian Gray, Dracula and in Torchwood as Mother Nothing and as Jo Jones in 'The Green Life'. She also starred opposite Sir Derek Jacobi in 'Masterful' and the chilling “Killing Time”.
Katy wrote and performed the play 'Not a well Woman' using 26 different voices, which is now available on audio. She has also recently appeared as an Ice Warrior Queen for the Troughton years and just released 'The Return of Jo Jones' being united with the third Doctor years after leaving him. She has also narrated three Iris Wildethyme books by Paul Magrs (with 50 voices) plus her first short story for Penguin 'Origin stories'. She has finally completed her last Blu-ray Box set of extras and last short for Pete McTighe entitled 'Defender of The Earth’.
