Episode 7 - The Kingmaker - REVIEW - with guest Mark Cockram

Mark Cockram is our guest this time and he has chosen his favourite Big Finish audio, The Kingmaker, for review.

Mark is the host of the Nerdology podcast, a tranquil repose for Doctor Who podcasters wishing to take a break from the rigours of Doctor Who fandom. By listening to Nerdology you can enjoy such variations in pop culture as I, Claudius and The West Wing, and much, much more.

The Kingmaker is number #81 in the Big Finish monthly range and was released in early 2006. Written by Nev Fountain, it features the first appearance of the 4th Doctor in a Big Finish play, voiced by the incredibly talented Jon Culshaw.

We certainly went off on some tangents in this episode, even discussing the most popular documentary on Netflix at the moment, Tiger King.

Be sure to also check out the Strangers in Space podcast, which Mark has appeared on from time to time.

And we play the full version of The Mandolorian theme by Husky By The Geek, the musician behind the theme music we use for The Sirens of Audio.

Eldrad Must Die! - REVIEW

The featured story for review this episode is Eldrad Must Die! by Marc Platt.

However, Dwayne starts out with a little rant after having seen the documentary "Showman - The Life of John Nathan-Turner" on the Season 26 Blu-ray box set.

The documentary included excerpts from the JNT Memoirs, released on Big Finish in 2002.

Opinionated fandom about stories and storytelling styles is one thing, but when it gets personal against a show runner, is attacking an individual as a human being really an acceptable way to express your opinion?

Our quick tip is The Lives of Captain Jack Volume 3, to be released later in March 2020.

Episode Three: Doctor Who - The Reaping (review) with guest, author Joseph Lidster

Dwayne is joined by special guest Joe Lidster, writer of the focus story for this time, Doctor Who – The Reaping, starring Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant.
But first Dwayne explains the seeming contradiction in Who continuity with the recent season 12 TV episode “The Haunting of the Villa Diodati” featuring the 13th Doctor and “Mary’s Story”, the Big Finish audio featuring the 8th Doctor, both “seemingly” taking place at the same time with the same characters. Many thanks to Joe for joining us for an in-depth discussion of his work, including: Doctor Who - The Rapture Doctor Who – The Reaping Doctor Who – The Gathering Sapphire & Steel – Daisy Chain Sapphire & Steel – The Mystery of the Missing Hour… plus, his TV work on Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. Intro & Outro music by Husky by the Geek. Be sure to listen to Doctor Who - Eldrad Must Die! in preparation for our next episode.
